James joined Eric Salmon & Partners to continue and build his focus on executive search, assessment and resourcing consultancy across the consumer services sectors with a particular interest and expertise in retail financial services. His client portfolio includes large PLCs through to mid-cap and smaller private equity backed enterprise with strong marketing, data, analytics and customer centric business models seeking to compete, differentiate and/or disrupt their respective markets.
Over the last 25 years, James has gained experience and developed networks across the US, Europe, Middle East, Africa and South East Asia and with clients and candidates in a variety of regulated working environments. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for Sheffield Haworth, a global financial services boutique where he was a member of the executive management team managing the commercial and operational aspects of the business whilst also running retail financial services, technology, corporate officers functions and interim.
His previous career includes the purchase and subsequent sale of Wrightson Wood, a retail financial services focussed executive search firm that he ran between 2002 and 2013. He joined this business from Korn/Ferry International where, as a Partner of the firm, he managed the 50+ strong researcher team and conducted mandates across financial and professional services whilst helping to launch the e-commerce team across Europe between 1999 and 2002.
James is a graduate of architecture, a Governor of an independent preparatory school, a trustee of a secondary school endowment fund and junior level rugby coach.
