Alain joined Eric Salmon & Partners in 2006 in the Paris Office and opened the Brussels office in 2008. He currently concentrates his work in Benelux and France and focuses on pan-European searches in banking, insurance, private banking/asset management and back office/financial infrastructure. He is also specialised in financial and legal positions in industry in Europe and is serving supranational organisations on a global basis. His second focus of work concentrates on family companies accompanying them in their international growth.
Alain started his career in Equity Sales with Nomura Securities in Brussels, London and Tokyo. Later he worked at Samuel Montagu & Co in Amsterdam as a Director Corporate Finance, to initiate all Belgian M&A mandates. He built up a network of contacts at CEO and CFO level with all major Benelux corporations and state-owned organisations in M&A, privatisations, structured financing, project finance, venture capital and international equity and debt issuing. Prior to joining Eric Salmon & Partners Alain was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles then at Ray & Berndtson in Brussels, leading the Financial Services Practice.
Educated in Belgium, Alain de Borchgrave gained a BA in Business Management at Université Catholique de Louvain and completed an MBA program at INSEAD, Fontainebleau (1990).
